The gang’s all here for an retrospective of FMFC assistant coach John Pascarella’s career as a player, coach, author, and intellectual. We discuss how a chance meeting led to coaching and then playing in Peru, the best pasta sauce surnames, and playing for the first LA Galaxy team in 1996.
The bigger news this week is the announcement of the signing of forward Francis Jno-Baptiste, a Crystal Palace academy product hailing from Newham, UK. Newham is the original site of West Ham United’s Boleyn Ground / Upton Park, and just so happens to be where Liam’s cousin Richie lives, and he says “Palace are well shit, always have been,” so I suppose it depends who you ask. John Pascarella shared with us Tuesday night before the tape was rolling that Francis has been playing for his current amateur side solely to stay fit after terminating his contract with Ostersund after they were relegated. JP mentioned the timing around this deal lined up perfectly for FMFC, as multiple clubs in Sweden and England would have had him on their radar.
Anyway, off to work for me, enjoy the episode and the day, and if you’re in Madison make sure you bundle up – the current “feels like” temp as I write this is -25°F / -31°C.
